Pennant Banners

I'm not the first person to catch the fabric banner epidemic that has been going around. But who can resist them? They're festive, make people smile, and enliven any party, wedding or event.

17. First Birthday Banner

Ever since I made the First Birthday Banner for my nephew, I can't stop thinking about them. It doesn't help that I'm peeking at all the gorgeous wedding blogs, and know that I want some type of hanging features involved in my own. Let's face it, it will probably be embellished with lights, sequins, bobbles, fringe, pom-poms, but you will all love it. (wink) Would it help if I stuck to a color palette of reds, pinks and melon...with room to spare?

Colored Banners

Even though I was already enchanted with banners, I heard of something that makes all previous banners mundane. What is this, you ask?

Miniature banners. You heard me. I saw this one on Parallel Botany and immediately felt my fingers twitching to make my own. Her embroidery is amazing as well, but I'll have to learn that skill another time.

Mini Banner Makin'

Miniature banners, it makes so much sense! The miniature version of anything is always eleven times cuter with the exception of cockroaches.

Pennants

Note to self, procure some non-ghetto felt and learn to embroider semi-properly.

P.S. Thanks for everyone's sweet and inspiring words from my last post. You all are amazing, courageous and wonderful friends. Everything went fine. I'll tell you more about it as time goes on. xoxo.

WOW you know already I love the birthday banner you made so much but the minis are just adorable!!! I found some wool mix felt at the fabric store...it sews so nice. The 100% wool is super expensive but if you are making mini versions it would go a long way

Gah! Those are so cute, you did such a great job and of course I love the painting of them too. I laughed out loud when you said "with the exception of cockroaches".

Thanks so much for mentioning my little felt banner -- I was really pleased with the way it turned out.
I should mention that the original design for this item is by Nicole Licht (http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5344294).

I agree with making sure not to use the cheapo craft felt. I used a great thin all-wool felt. It makes a world of difference!

I love your watercolor, it's banner madness!

Thanks again, have a great weekend!

I am squealing. Squealing! I bought a felt birthday banner last year for internal family use, trying to simplify and not make everything myself for a change. But I must make a mini-banner now. I am in love!

Non-ghetto felt needs to be the phrase of the week.

Phew - I'm so glad you said it yourself! That is the ghettoest felt I've ever seen. And I've seen some seriously ghetto felt. ;) There I go with the emoticons again. You really bring them out of me.
